Privacy Policy

Effective: September 25, 2026

Bragman for Fairfax Town Council (“the Campaign,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects the privacy of people who visit our website, contact the Campaign, sign up for updates, volunteer, or otherwise provide information to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we may collect, how we may use it, and the choices available to you.

Information we may collect

Depending on how you interact with the Campaign, we may collect information that you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, message content, volunteer interests, and communication preferences. If an online contribution service is added, contribution information may be collected and processed by that service under its own terms and privacy practices.

How we may use information

We may use information you provide to respond to your questions, communicate with you about Campaign activities, send updates you have requested, provide information about events or volunteer opportunities, process requests such as yard-sign requests, maintain Campaign records, comply with applicable legal requirements, and protect the security and integrity of our website and communications.

Text messaging and consent

Providing a phone number is optional. We will use a phone number for campaign text messages only when the person has provided the applicable consent. Campaign text messages may include campaign updates, event information, volunteer opportunities, and requests for donation. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency may vary. Reply STOP to opt out and HELP for help. Additional text-message terms are available in our Terms of Service.

Required text-messaging privacy disclosure:

We will not share text messaging originator opt-in data and consent, provided that the foregoing does not apply to sharing (1) with vendors, consultants and other service providers who need access to such information to carry out work on our behalf (and who will not use such information for their own purposes); (2) if we believe disclosure is required by any applicable law, rule, or regulation or to comply with law enforcement or legal process; and (3) if the user consents to our sharing of such information.

Service providers

We may use vendors and service providers to help operate Campaign communications, website hosting, forms, email, text messaging, security, and similar functions. When a service provider needs access to personal information to perform work for the Campaign, that access should be limited to what is needed for the service. Before connecting a new form, analytics, donation, email, or text-message provider, the Campaign should confirm that this Privacy Policy accurately describes the resulting data practices.

Website and technical information

Our hosting provider or other technical service providers may automatically receive standard technical information when you visit the site, such as an IP address, browser type, device information, pages requested, and date and time of access. If the Campaign later adds analytics or advertising technologies, this policy should be updated before those technologies are deployed.

Data retention and security

We may retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for Campaign purposes, legal obligations, recordkeeping, and dispute resolution. We use reasonable measures intended to protect information, but no website, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Your choices

  • You may choose not to provide an optional phone number.
  • You may choose not to check the optional text-message consent box.
  • You may reply STOP to a Campaign text message to opt out of future texts from that messaging program.
  • You may contact the Campaign to ask questions about your information or communication preferences.

Children

This website is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly seek personal information from children under 13 through this website.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when the current version took effect.
